Robot dance music & sad robot lullabies. No big selling point or swaying words to try and make you like us, nor how we met. We only attempt find something a little off the beaten path to give to you, something sincere and playful... innovative and moving...We have fun when creating these sounds. We simply make music, and hope you enjoy it. So I recently posted a track from The Chromatics, which lead me on a hunt for more Ruth Radelet tracks....I would like to think that I'm pretty in the know of awesome tracks but obviously that's not the case...I've missed out over the past few years of several Ruth Radelet tracks....nonetheless here's one more from Glass Candy! Not an awesome video but a beautiful track! Chromatics originally hailed from Seattle as a quartet featuring vocalist Adam Miller, drummer Hannah Blilie, guitarist Devin Welch, and bassist Michelle Nolan. That lineup debuted in 2002 with a Calvin Johnson-produced 7” on Gold Standard Laboratories — a split with Die Monitr Batss — and followed with the similarly GSL-issued Chrome Rats Vs Basement Ruts LP. While Chrome Rats was critically hailed, Chromatics couldn’t keep it together, and Miller was soon the only member in good standing (Blilie, Welch, and Nolan went on to form the similar-soundingShoplifting). Unworried, Miller added guitar and drum programming to his vocal duties and tapped bassist Nat Sahlstrom for the 2003 GSL 7” Ice hatchets. That was followed by the February 2004 full-length Plaster Hounds (which featured the percussion work of Get Hustle’s Ron Avila), and a repositioning of the Chromatics axis to greater reflect its dub and no wave influences. This lineup too dissolved and Adam Miller relocated Chromatics to Portland, teaming up with Glass Candy’s Johnny Jewel, Ruth Radelet on lead vocals, and Nat Walker on percussion and saxophone. The new lineup of Chromatics has a more lo-fi electronic sound as opposed to the earlier dub and no-wave sounds. Brazilian dance-rock revelers CSS will release their new album La Liberación on August 22, via V2/Cooperative/Downtown. The album's first single is a breezily funky number called "Hits Me Like a Rock", and it features a guest vocal from Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie. The "Hits Me Like a Rock" single will feature remixes from Dillon Francis and Depressed Buttons. Talking about the song in a press release, CSS frontwoman Lovefoxxx says, "It's about the power of music to date our lives. You know when you listen to a song over and over again over a certain period of time and later, for a while, you simply forget that song ever existed... But then when 'shuffle' choose to use it's power and bring back that song to you, you listen to it again and everything you've felt hits you ever so strong and the music becomes physical." |
