Simply put ‘Dark Electronic Indie Pop’, a band not to be missed.
The Wolverhampton band release this their first single "Dark Daze" taken from their forthcoming debut album “Flat Pack Nation” which was recorded in their home town of Wolverhampton with famed producerGavin Monaghan (Editors, Ocean Colour Scene, The Twang).
The single has an optimistic message about moving on and can be best described as a buoyant Electro Indie Pop song with a strong dance beat and uplifting melodies with slightly similarities to a darker version of the Pet Shop Boys.
Comprising of vocals Ashley Bradley, guitar Ryan Deakin, bass Adam Hall and Joshua Muddie on drums, and growing up in the industrial wastelands of the Black Country with low unemployment and desolation, was the main influence to their sound.
Industrial noises dominate their music throughout and every song has a message off hope.
The raw intensity that pervades the music on this album comes from the heart “This album is the culmination of all of the everyday ups and downs life throws at you," says the band. "Sonically, we have used strong dance beats reminiscent of the 80’s and 90’s, we wanted the album's intensity to match that of our live show. We're very proud of this album and excited for our fans to hear it!"
Their first single, "Dark Daze" sets the band apart from any other with infectious driving electronic rhythm, edgy guitar and a message in the lyrics. A video for “Dark Daze”, and filmed by Evan Fice, is also released in support of the track and viewable here: http://youtu.be/JnAmirugyKc .
The emotional video portraits loss and hope and fits perfectly to the soundtrack of “Dark Daze”.
Having already been the main support for The Twang at the opening of the new 02 Academy in Birmingham, and headlining to a sell out crowd at the Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton, BLAKCAN are set to have quite the busy 2012 as a UK tour is currently being planned, kicking off in September.
