Iggy Pop's band have reportedly completed work on a new studio album, and, like the rapper's 1994 debut, they are calling it Ready to Die. "It's old-time Stooges," engineer Ed Cherney told HitFix. Cherney recently finished mixing the album, the Stooges' first in six years. "It's raw. They're great songs, but not necessarily big choruses. They're the antichrist of anthems." Cherney didn't produce Ready to Die: that responsibility went to guitarist James Williamson, who co-wrote the band's 1973 tour de force, Raw Power. After a 30-year absence from the Stooges, Williamson rejoined the group in 2009 following the death of Ron Asheton. Ron's brother, Stooges co-founder Scott Asheton remains the drummer. The Minutemen's Mike Watt plays bass, as on 2007's The Weirdness. So far two song titles from Ready to Die's tracklist are known: Gun and I Got a Job But It Don't Pay Shit. The lyrics are "very timely", Cherney said. "[Iggy] knows what he wants to say. He's watching the world around him." Pop was forced to self-release his last solo album, Après, after it was rejected by Virgin EMI. "They would have preferred that I do a rock album with popular punks," he explained. "Sort of like 'Hi Dad!'" ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL line-up is looking FANTASTIC. Keep an eye out for phase 3 announcements...Until then here's the schedule! DJ / PHASE 1

First single ‘Heaven’ next Friday, February 1st. (Columbia Records; New York, NY; January 24, 2013) – Depeche Mode have announced they will release their highly anticipated 13th studio album, entitled Delta Machine, on March 26th worldwide via Columbia Records. The album, recorded over the last year in Santa Barbara, California and New York City, was produced by Ben Hillier and mixed by Flood. In addition to the album announcement, Depeche Mode have also confirmed that the video for the first single “Heaven” will debut on VEVO next Friday, February 1st. Alongside a standard CD format, Depeche Mode will release Delta Machine in an exclusive Deluxe Edition with four additional new tracks and accompanied by a 28 page hardcover book including photos by longtime artistic collaborator Anton Corbijn (please see track listing, as well as album and single configurations below). Martin Gore said of the release, “Writing this album was incredibly daunting as I wanted the sound of this collection to be very modern. I want people to feel good about listening to this record, to get some kind of peace. It’s just got something magical about it.” Dave Gahan added, “With this release we’ve completely shifted our idea of how to create an album. When we hit a wall where we realize the album is beginning to sound too normal, we’ll mess it up and really give it that organic Depeche Mode Sound. Delta Machine is no different, and I can’t wait for all of our fans to hear it.” Following the release of their new album, Depeche Mode will embark on a European stadium tour, kicking off in Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon Park on May 7th. They will perform 34 shows in 25 European countries, featuring appearances at Milan’s famed San Siro Stadium, the Stade De France in Paris, and Moscow’s Locomotive Stadium before wrapping up the European leg of their tour in Minsk, Belarus on July 29. A full North American tour will follow, with details to be announced in the coming weeks. The tracklisting for Delta Machine is as follows:

Thank u 2 all VOLTA fans u deserved more especially after the way u rooted for us on this album. I tried my hardest to keep it going but Bosnian Rainbows was what we all got instead. I can't sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta. I honestly thank all of you for buying our records and coming to our shows. You guys were a blast to play in front of We could never had done it with out you. My dream was to get us to the point were Jon Theodore and Ikey Owens came back but sadly it's over Thank u a million times over for ever giving a fuck about our band For the record I tried my hardest to get a full scale North American tour going for Noctourniquet but Omar did not want to. I guess a break from mars volta means starting another band and ignoring all the support the fans gave us. I tried my hardest guys. All I can do is move forward with my music and just be happy that mars volta ever happened at all. God Damn we had a blast. Thank u again I just feel really guilty for not even really saying the truth because a hiatus is just an insult to the fans To all our fans all over the world thank you for giving a fuck. You all ruled! I don't think ill ever hear a fist full of dollars the same. My record will see the light of day soon and I'm excited because it sounds nothing like my previous endeavors. And no I'm not joking about any of this, I owe it 2 u guys to all fans to be serious about this Thank u to all past members who helped Volta along as well. we blasted through like a comet and left our mark! If u ever see me in person and want to know why I'll tell u my story Please just be happy that it happened at all remember all the opposition we were met with for just starting a new band back in 2001. Good news for Postal Service fans! The indie band that had a short run in the early 2000s is reportedly reuniting.
The band's website was changed on Jan. 21 to read simply "The Postal Service 2013." Billboard reports that The Postal Service's label, Sub Pop, is planning to release a deluxe edition of the band's only album, 2003's "Give Up." The deluxe edition will be made available in celebration of the 10th anniversary of "Give Up." Billboard is also reporting that the band will perform a reunion set at the Los Angeles music festival, Coachella. The Postal Service is made up of musician Ben Gibbard, who fronts Death Cab for Cutie, and producer Jimmy Tamborello of DNTEL. In October, "Give Up" was certified platinum, more than nine years after it was released. Days before "Give Up" went platinum, Gibbard asserted that the album would be the only one from the duo. "There are no plans to make a second record," he said in an interview with Spinner. "I can't say that enough." -The Huffington Post | By Madeline Boardman ON AN ON will release their full-length debut Give In via Roll Call Records on January 29th, but fans have a chance to hear the album all this week at Hype Machine where an advanced preview is streaming in full. Playdate Playdate (Steve Duda Remix) Playdate (Obsidian Remix) Cherenkov Light ABOUT Nonplus, the entity, the purveyor of MIDI has made a song that is capable of bringing the universe to a standstill in order to focus it’s energy on the beautifully orchestrated sounds of Playdate. Playdate is a song that can be listened to for the next 100 years. Life without Nonplus is no life at all. The mysterious yet innovative vocals set the tone for a story nobody will forget. As you go down this unforgettable path of wisdom and atonalism you’re hit with a sudden realization of truth. This truth can set you free from the everyday reality we all breathe beneath the steel sky. Steve Duda, need we say more, has created a remix out of bliss. He took what some would call the cauldron of eternity and turned it into the mortal being it needed to be. There was no other option as it had to be Steve. Obsidian, the master of bass, has brought the original a whole new flavor. He carefully executed this remix in a lawless manner with no regard for faces! Your face is going to melt, we guarantee it. This remix finishes off our most anticipated release of the year. Be the first to get a copy. Cherenkov Light was forged out of raindrops and a serious knowledge of sound. Nonplus shows off just how deep his skills can penetrate the sonic layer of our souls. This song is one with universe, it is nature, it is everything we can’t understand and everything we can. True bliss. Look out for the Nonplus "North By Northwest EP" with a special remix by John Tejada coming soon! "In a world where cookie cutter tracks and preset sounds have become the norm, Nonplus delivers a vision of the future." – Bill Hamel "beautiful, dark, body, mind music......." – BT |
