A first of its kind for the Mother City, a collision of beats will take place at the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival (CTEMF) this weekend when SA’s greatest electronic acts showcase their music there. “It’s a concept originating from major electronic events around the world, from Sonar in Barcelona to the Movement Music Festival in Detroit, and the festival spirit will now ignite Cape Town,” says organiser David Ireton. “These are culturally advancing cities and we feel Cape Town is ready. Electronic music is always the side floor music and never the main at an event, but we are here to show it is ready to stand by itself.” Artists to be featured include Dank, Remy Gold, Goldfish, Ivan Turanjanin, Pascal and Pearce, Markus Wormstorm, Felix Laband, Mr Sakitumi and The Grrrl, Sibot and Kid Fonque. However, to cover as many genres as possible to cater for a broader audience, organisers have included the hip hop acts AKA and PH Fat as well as the house acts Black Coffee and Jullian Gomes. Festival-goers can experience the views of Cape Town from the roof of venue, The Breakwater parking area at V&A Waterfront. The festival, in association with Red Bull Studio, will also host info sessions and workshops from today in a build-up to the weekend. Heading the line-up of speakers is Black Coffee with Amaru Da Costa (Soulistic Music) and Dave Mac (BPM & Muse). They will focus on the business and knowledge-sharing aspects of electronic music. Ireton stresses: “It doesn’t matter what colour, race or age you are. We want to put on a world-class event with world-class production as we are promoting tourism, too. As time goes by we want people to fly from overseas just to attend the event.” • Tickets: R100 for a day pass, R200 for a weekend pass. Times: Friday: 3pm to 2am, Saturday: 11am to 2am, Sunday: 11am to 11pm. Whether you are getting ready for a night out, just arrived at the party, or are getting down at the after party, "Jealous Girls" is the perfect track for the empowered, sexy and independent. "Angelina's work ethic and passion is truly inspiring," said Omen. "It is also the key to making a name for herself." Angelina Lavo is a pop ingénue with a Russian edge and a sensual sound.
