The Pragmatic, featuring RAC's Andre' Allen Anjos, released their debut single "Circles" today. The St. Louis-based synthpop five-piece is rounded out by Karl Kling, Jon Goldstein, Liz Anjos and Jeremiah Clark. The single is accompanied by eight remixes and all versions of the track are available for free via the band's website www.thepragmatic.com
Anjos has made a name for himself over the past year with RAC, a collective he started and helms. RAC has done remixes for The Shins, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Tegan and Sara, Chromeo, Tokyo Police Club and many more. The mixes regularly rank among the most popular at Hype Machine and Brooklyn Vegan has gone so far as to post 26 of his remixes in one entry (on December 26th). Stereogum released an exclusive session this past summer called RAC Volume One. In addition, he's recently had several pieces of original music placed in HBO's Entourage and is continuing to expand into different realms via his remixing, production and songwriting.
The Pragmatic will make their New York debut this month at CMJ, playing Pianos on October 22nd and you can catch Anjos spinning at The Knitting Factory on the 21st for the Stunt Company annual Homespun showcase.

Swedish Pop STAR Lisa Miskovsky's "Still Alive" Remixed By Top Electronic Producers and Bands Including Paul van Dyk, Junkie XL, Benny Benassi, Teddybears and Armand Van Helden FOR THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED GAME
DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced that a remix album for their highly anticipated title Mirror's Edge will be digitally released worldwide on November 11 in conjunction with the launch of the game for the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system versions. The album features the title track "Still Alive" performed by Swedish rock/pop star Lisa Miskovsky and remixes by some of today's most in-demand artists including Paul van Dyk, Junkie XL, Teddybears, Benny Benassi and Armand Van Helden.
"A groundbreaking videogame demands an equally provocative theme song," says Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing for EA. "We've taken an unprecedented approach to this track, bringing together several of the world's top remixers to create an album that will not only cross genres and borders, but also redefine how great new music can be delivered to the world."
Recorded exclusively for Mirror's Edge, "Still Alive" was written and produced by Rami Yacoub and Arnthor Birgisson who are best known for their chart-topping work with artists Pink, Britney Spears and Kelis. Since Mirror's Edge was developed at EA Digital Illusions CE AB (DICE) in Stockholm, Sweden, the country's biggest name made for the right candidate for the track. The song was performed by Lisa Miskovsky who has earned international acclaim for her #1 self-titled debut album and #1 platinum follow-up, Fallwater. In her native country, Miskovsky is the recipient of several top music honors including "Best New Artist," "Best Female Artist" and "Artist of the Year."
"When given the opportunity to work with Lisa, Rami and Arnthor, who are all avid gamers, we knew we had something very special on our hands," added Magnus Walterstad, Audio Director at DICE. "With 'Still Alive,' we created a Mirror's Edge theme song that is able to stand on its own two feet as well as accurately representing the emotional experience of playing the game."
"This is a terrific song from a tremendous new artist," adds Terry McBride, CEO of EA label partners Nettwerk Music Group. "Every one of these remixers responded not only to the power of the track itself, but also to what this project will mean to the continued convergence of music and gaming. Our entire worldwide marketing team is committed to making this a landmark digital release."
When customers pre-order Mirror's Edge at Best Buy, they can pick up a music CD containing the hit theme song to Mirror's Edge and an exclusive remix by Benny Benassi. Mirror's Edge is a revolutionary first person action adventure game that delivers players straight into the shoes of Faith, a modern-day heroine who traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat, fast-paced chases and challenging puzzles. It was recently awarded "Best Action Game" at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) by IGN and the Game Critics Award for "Best Original Game" at E3 in July. The game is rated "T" by the ESRB and "16+" by PEGI.
The complete track listing for the Mirror's Edge remix album is as follows:
Lisa Miskovsky Still Alive - Mirror's Edge Theme Song
Benny Benassi Still Alive - Remix
Junkie XL Still Alive - Remix
Paul van Dyk Still Alive - Remix
Teddybears Still Alive - Remix
Armand Van Helden Still Alive - Remix

Austin, TX -- Catering to the growing urban music scene, Open Labs will be hosting a two-day music event titled "Beats 'N Treats Music Festival" at the Mohawk venue on October 24-25, 2008. The two day event will feature live bands and a beat competition called the "Gold Rush Beat Competition," in which the winner will receive an Open Labs NeKo LUX encased in a 24-karat gold chassis. The instrument is worth over $24,000, and is Open Labs' most expensive instrument to date. The competition will be held on the outside stage of the Mohawk for both days, with running times of 5 pm to 2 am on Friday, and 2 pm to 2 am on Saturday. Local Austin MCs will be the masters of ceremonies. The inside stage will feature live bands and DJs throughout the event.
The entire event will be filmed with multiple hi-definition cameras, and broadcast live from www.openlabs.com. Open Labs is currently marketing and advertising worldwide for the Beats 'N Treats Music Festival, and over 2,000 attendees are expected, not including on-line viewers.
The gold NeKo is personally owned by Open Labs co-founder and chairman, Victor Wong, and only 24 of the gold NeKo's will ever be made by Open Labs. Wong claims that he is giving away his personal gold NeKo as a token of appreciation to the musician community for Open Labs' success, and as a celebration for Open Labs' five year anniversary.
"We know that there is a huge urban music scene here in Austin, and we'd like to give it some more recognition, as well as help foster its growth," said Wong. "Everyone at Open Labs is very pleased with the amount of success our company has received in the last five years, this is our way of giving back to the community, who have been the fuel to Open Labs' fire."
The Beats 'N Treats Music Festival will have two stages during both days: an outside stage to host the beat competition, and an inside stage that will feature live music. The band list for the inside stage tentatively includes Recorder, DJ Veedub, Rattletree Marimba, CTRL, Fiction, The Beautiful Supermachines, CockVanDyke, Academicos Da Opera, Aciable, the Ginsu Wives, The Mercers, Androids of Ex-Lovers, Salero, Shriner Threat, El Paso Heist, Hot Pentacostals, Blackolicus, Salesman and more. The rooftop of the Mohawk will feature product demonstrations of Open Labs gear, Q&A's with certified Open Labs employees, artist demonstrations, and the gold NeKo itself will be on display.
There is a $10 registration fee for beat makers wanting to compete during the Gold Rush Beat Competition, please visit the Open Labs website for details on registration payment. All proceeds from the registration fee will be donated to charity. The registration period will start on September 15, 2008 at noon, and will end on October 15, 2008 at midnight. The registrant number is limited to 200, and is on a first come, first serve basis. Open Labs will cut off the registration period if it reaches 200 before October 15, 2008 and will announce the preemptive cut-off date at www.openlabs.com.
"We've also had a lot of public interest in the gold NeKo since we've had it on our website and Youtube videos," said Wong. "I know there are some stellar beat makers out there who deserve this machine, but can't afford it. Now is their chance to own a 24-karat gold NeKo, our best and most expensive machine, using nothing but their talent."
Headquartered in the heart of "the live music capital of the world," Open Labs™ develops customized, computer music keyboards suited to fit every studio and stage need imaginable. With a single piece of Open Labs gear, musicians can play any organ, piano, synthesizer or virtual instrument on the planet, create any sound imaginable, manipulate every parameter, record it in a multi-track system and burn it to a CD/DVD. That's just the beginning of what Open Labs products can do.
With the advent of their innovative products, the NeKo and MiKo, and the A-list artists that use them, Open Labs has become the industry standard for producers, composers and musicians of every genre.
